NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Head coach Keith Parr announced several schedule changes to the 2023 Christopher Newport softball schedule on Thursday, including a postponement of Friday's doubleheader at the University of Lynchburg. Due to rain expected on Friday, the Captains will now travel to face the Hornets on Monday, April 17 at 2:00 p.m.

Parr also announced the cancellation of next Wednesday's doubleheader at Greensboro College. As of now, the Captains are still expected to play the doubleheader at Ferrum College on Sunday, April 16. That will be the next matchup for Christopher Newport, with first pitch against the Panthers scheduled for 1:00 p.m.

The Captains, ranked No. 2 in the nation according to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), are 17-3 this season.
