NEWPORT NEWS, Va. --
Punctuating the longest homestand in program history, the Christopher Newport women's lacrosse team will host Rowan in a non-conference battle at noon on Saturday at Jennings Family Stadium.

Entering the squad's seventh straight home game, the Captains have a 4-5 record, including a 3-5 mark in Newport News. Meanwhile, Rowan is 7-2 overall and 4-1 on the road.

For those fans unable to attend the game, live stats will be available at CNUsports.com. Christopher Newport will also provide a webcast of the contest with Kenna McCarthy and Caroline Suder calling all of the action.

The Captains are coming off of a 16-5 win over Lynchburg on Wednesday. Against the Hornets, Kelsey Winters posted eight points, including five assists, while Syd Guidi landed four goals. On the other side of the field, Christopher Newport forced 19 turnovers, which equaled the fifth-highest total in school history.

Leading the way on the defensive side, Madi Rozgonyi came through with three takeaways, while four other players added two apiece. Between the pipes, Hadley Chadwick posted six saves, including her sixth stop on a free-position attempt in the past two games.

During the current homestand, Chadwick has an 8.95 goals-against-average and a .452 save percentage. Equally impactful on the back end, Maddie Rusinko has a team-high 13 takeaways during the past six games, while Kelaher ranks second with 11 stips. Emma Jackson has also compiled five caused turnovers, 13 ground balls, and 15 draw controls.

On the offensive side, Winters and Guidi have carried the Captains during the homestand. Finding some comfort in the cozy confines at Jennings Family Stadium, Winters boasts 25 points over the past six games. Meanwhile, Guidi has deposited a team-high 14 tallies, including four multi-goal efforts, during that span.

Overall this season, Winters continues to lead the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference with 27 assists. That total also places her eighth on the national charts this season. On the other end of the field, Christopher Newport ranks seventh in the NCAA with an average of 14.56 takeaways per game. Seven Captains have already caused at least 10 turnovers, including Jackson, who leads the team with 17.

Rowan comes into the weekend on a five-game winning streak, including a 16-8 triumph over Cabrini on Wednesday. Against the Cavaliers, Jamie Cutrera posted a career-high seven goals, which also marked the most by a Prof this season. On the defensive side, Reilly Shaup registered 16 saves, which equaled the highest total of her career.

Boasting a high-powered attack, Rowan averages 33.44 shots per game this season, which ranks 27th in the NCAA. The team also sits 18th on the national charts in clearing percentage (.868) and 26th in free-position percentage (.544). On an individual level, Cutrera leads the way with 24 goals and 32 points. Molly Green also has 25 points to go along with 51 draw controls, while Shaup has a .491 save percentage and 10.05 goals-against-average.

Saturday's battle will mark the first all-time meeting between Rowan and Christopher Newport. It will also stand as just the second showdown between the Captains and a program from the vaunted New Jersey Athletic Conference, which has produced 13 national championship teams in women's lacrosse. The only previous bout came last year when Christopher Newport knocked off Kean, 20-6.

After this weekend, the Captains will hit the road for the first time in over a month when the squad travels to Ashland, Virginia on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. test at Randolph-Macon.
