ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Captains closed out the fall season with a 10th place finish at the MAISA Women's Fall Dinghy and a 16th place effort at the War Memorial.
Sailing at King's Point in the MAISA Women's, Christopher Newport scored 246 points with 142 in A division and 104 in B division. The B division tandem of
Grace Watlington and
Ellie McFall finished ninth with 104 points while
Laura Smith sailed with
Summer Duba for a 12th place effort in A division.
Watlington and McFall recorded a team-best second place finish in the sixth race of the weekend. They captured eleven top-ten efforts and averaged just over a seventh-place finish over the 14-race event.
The A division pair earned six top-ten finishes and finished strong with their regatta-best fifth-place showing in the final race.
Elsewhere, the Captains competed in the MAISA Fall Championship, the War Memorial, and finished 16th out of 18 teams with 317 total points. The A division boat scored 165 points and the B division came in at 152 points.
In the A boat, Joshua Bendura and
Sebastian Beavers paired up while
Aston Atherton and
Berend Van der Meer sailed together in the B division boat. Atherton steered Van der Meer to a third place finish in the first race of the weekend to highlight the action for CNU. Overall, the two boats finished out the 12-race regatta with four top-ten finishes.
