Christopher Newport earned its spot atop the Coast-to-Coast Conference preseason poll for the second straight season. CNU received six of seven first-place votes in the 2022 C2C preseason poll, released on Monday.

The Captains earned 36 total points in the poll with six first-place votes, ahead of UC Santa Cruz (30 points), Salisbury (26 points), and Mary Washington (22 points). Salisbury (1) received the final first place vote. Pratt, Mount Mary, and Finlandia round out the poll.

Christopher Newport brought home its 17th conference title in program history and competed in its 14th straight NCAA Tournament in 2021. With All-Conference selections Maddie Carter and Mackenzie Wright back for their fifth years, the Captains return almost their entire team for the 2022 season. C2C Tournament MVP Sammy Carroll leads an experienced Captains roster with nine upperclassmen into their repeat campaign.

The Captains begin their league title defense at the C2C Women's Volleyball Championship, a 6-team tournament, hosted by Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Va. on November 4 & 5.
