The Captains won their third and fourth straight matches to finish 3-0 on the weekend. On Saturday, they took down Messiah and Randolph-Macon.

Christopher Newport 3, Messiah 0 | (25-16, 25-13, 25-14)

First Set

Alyssa Dozier's kill followed five straight Messiah errors in a 6-0 run that expanded the Captains' lead from two to seven. Two kills from Maddie Carter and one more from Mackenzie Wright gave CNU three straight points to close out the first set.

Second Set

Rebecca Frey led off the second set with back-to-back aces. The Captains led the entire second set with kills from Alyssa Dozier and Lainie Putt bookending three Falcon errors to clinch the second set for the Captains.

Third Set

Two aces from Dozier were part of an eight point run for Christopher Newport. Leading 11-8, eight straight Captain points helped build an insurmountable lead in the third set. Macy Burk drove home three of the last four kills to claim the third set for CNU.

Christopher Newport 3, Randolph-Macon 1 | (25-18, 25-19, 21-25, 28-26)

First Set

The Captains seized the momentum early in the first set, taking 14 of 15 points to move ahead 18-5. Maddie Carter and Mackenzie Wright helped CNU take the first set, combining for the final three kills.

Second Set

Once again, CNU surged ahead 15-4 in the second set. Maddie Carter contributed three kills, while Kyla McIntyre and Mackenzie Wright contributed two each to help the Captains take a large lead. The Yellow Jackets came back to make the set close, but a kill from Julia Gleason put away Randolph-Macon as Christopher Newport won the second set to take a 2-0 lead.

Third Set

Alyssa Dozier's kill brought the Captains within two, 22-20. The Yellow Jackets took the next point, but Maddie Carter brought the deficit back to two with a kill to make the score 23-21. But Randolph-Macon finished off the third set by taking the final two points to force a fourth set.

Fourth Set

A kill from Sammy Carroll was followed by two errors from RMC to set up a set point for Christopher Newport. But the Yellow Jackets won the next three points to tie the game at 24. The two sides went point-for-point and left the game tied again at 26. Maddie Carter and Mackenzie Wright went back-to-back with kills to close out the set and match for CNU.

• The Captains had just 10 errors in the win over Messiah, the second-lowest total of the season.
• CNU's eight blocks against Messiah are the most in a three-set match this year.
• Christopher Newport totaled 63 kills in the win over Randolph-Macon. That's the most in a four set match this season and the second-most in any match this season.
• Maddie Carter set a season high of 21 kills, as did Mackenzie Wright with 18.
• Sammy Carroll also set a new season high of 54 assists in the win over Randolph-Macon.
