Rebecca Frey surpassed 1000 career digs on Thursday night, but the Captains fell in four sets to Salisbury
First Set (Salisbury 25-19)
Two kills and a service ace from
Megan James highlighted a fast start for CNU. But after leading 14-7, Salisbury scored 11 of the following 10 points to flip the script and give the Sea Gulls a three point lead. With the momentum in their favor, Salisbury was able to hold off CNU and take the first set.
Second Set (Salisbury 27-25)
Two aces from
Rebecca Frey capped off a 14-5 start to the second set for the Captains. Later, CNU took three points in a row to take a 23-17 lead, but Salisbury went on a seven point run and forced a set point at 24-23. A bad set and a kill from
Maddie Carter put CNU up 25-24, but the Sea Gulls rallied to take the final three points of the second set.
Third Set (Captains 25-22)
Salisbury came back from a slow start in the third set and eventually took a 20-18 lead. This time it was the Captains with the late rally, as two kills from
Mackenzie Wright were part of a 5-0 run before another kill from Wright set up a set point.
Alyssa Dozier's kill claimed the third set for Christopher Newport.
Fourth Set (Salisbury 25-23)
CNU moved ahead 22-20 with kills from Dozier and Carter, but Salisbury won three points in a row to retake the lead.
Lainie Putt's kill tied the set, but Salisbury took the next two points, the fourth set, and the match.

- Rebecca Frey passed 1000 digs on Thursday night after recording 13 digs in the match.
- CNU had 80 digs as a team, tied for the second-most digs in a four set match this season.
