NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) released its pre-season football coaches poll on Tuesday, and Christopher Newport is picked fourth in the seven-team group. The Captains are also designated as the "dark horse" in the league for the coming season.

Art Link's squad opens the 2021 campaign on Saturday, September 4th. The Captains will host the Generals of Washington and Lee at TowneBank Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m., and it will be the fist meeting ever of the programs. Christopher Newport is coming off an 0-2 record in the short spring season conducted by the NJAC. 

Salisbury is picked to lead the way this fall, followed by Montclair State and Rowan ahead of the Captains. The College of New Jersey, William Paterson, and Kean round out the pre-season ranking.
