The CNU Storm Dance Team tryouts will be held virtually this year from Friday, May 22 – Sunday, May 24^th. All interested applicants must email cnustorm@gmail.com with a valid Gmail account in order to be sent the online registration form. The non-refundable registration fee must be mailed to the address listed on the google form.  Applicants who complete their registration form by Friday, May 1^st will be eligible for the early-bird registration rate of $25. Any registration forms sent after this date will be required to send a non-refundable registration check of $35. All checks can be made payable to CNU Storm Dance Team.
**Important Note: Applicant's registration is not considered complete until the non-refundable check has been received. Registration will CLOSE at 5:00 pm on Thursday, May 14^th. 


Once the applicant's registration is considered complete, they will be invited to join a FREE organizational platform called BAND. On Friday, May 15^th at 5:00 pm, all tryout choreography will be posted on this platform. Applicant's will be able to register for an online LIVE audition time slot and see a list of required technical skills via this application as well. Applicants will have ONE WEEK to learn all of the audition choreography. Beginning on Friday, May 22^nd LIVE auditions will be held in one-hour time slots. Applicants will need to use or create a valid Gmail account in order to use the Google Meet platform. During the audition time slot, applicants will be interviewed LIVE by a panel of esteemed judges and then evaluated on their technique, memory retention, collegiate image, professionalism, athleticism, choreography execution, and performance.
 
All participating members will be notified of the results after 5:00 pm on Monday, May 25^th.

Please wear flattering, form-fitting dance clothes (half-top or sports bra required), no baggy clothing and appropriate dance shoes. Please present yourself game day ready with hair down (straightened or curled) and full makeup. The CNU Storm is a collegiate and competitive dance team; please reflect this image during your audition.

Ideal candidates for the CNU Storm will demonstrate mastery of the following:

• Strong pom motions
• High (past eye level) kicks
• Triple pirouettes
• Hyper extended leaps and toe touches
• Turning or Circular Discs
• Elite turn combinations (ala seconde/fouette/changing spot)
• Switch leaps (should have side, switch opens or switch to second are ideal)
• Jazz and hip-hop stylings
• Energetic performance skills
• A strong passion for dance and spirit for their University
• Kip up and/or headspring capabilities

 
Auditioning dancers will be taught a segment of our fight song, an up-tempo jazz routine, as well as a short hip-hop piece.
The CNU Storm is a Varsity Athletic Team. Though a rewarding and priceless experience, it is a major time commitment. Our season runs from April through May of the following year and includes commitments during summer, holiday and other university breaks. We attend camp for and compete at the NCA/NDA Collegiate Cheer and Dance Team Championships each year.

All performances, work-outs, practices and events are mandatory. Please take this into consideration before auditioning.
