NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The CNU Storm Dance Team will be holding a Dance Clinic on Saturday, February 1^st, 2020 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. The clinic is open to all high-school students and current CNU students that are interested in seeing what it is like to be on a collegiate dance team.

Participants will learn technical skills specific to dance team such as pom motions, leaps, turns and jumps. In addition, participants will be taught a short hip hop routine that mirrors similar collegiate hip hop choreography we compete each year. Current CNU Storm members will be on hand to review proper game day appearances as well as answer questions regarding time-commitments, expectations and to share their personal team experiences.

Those dancers who attend the clinic will also be given 2 complimentary tickets to the CNU women's basketball game against The University of Mary Washington at 2:00 pm. Clinic members who attend the game will be able to see the current CNU Storm dance team in action as they perform pregame sidelines, timeouts, and a halftime routine alongside Hypnotic Control. If more tickets are needed, you can purchase tickets online at www.cnusports.com or at the ticket booth on game day.

Registration and payment (cash or check) must be received by Saturday, January 25^th, 2020 to qualify for pre-registration pricing. Pre-registration cost is $35 per dancer, CNU students with a current CNU ID $30.  Day of registration is $45. Please make all checks payable to: CNU Storm Dance Team.
 
Check-in will begin at 9:30 am in the Freeman Center on Saturday, February 1^st, 2020. Please bring healthy snacks, water, and jazz shoes. At the conclusion of the clinic, participants will be released to their parents or legal guardians. A section of bleachers will be reserved for participants and their respective families interested in coming to the CNU women's basketball game that afternoon. Participants interested in watching the halftime performance from the court will be asked to meet the team on the side of the bleachers with 5 minutes remaining in the second quarter. They will then be able to go on the court with the coaching staff and watch the CNU Storm Dance Team perform their halftime show alongside Hypnotic Control. At the conclusion of the halftime show, participants are free to leave or stay for the remainder of the basketball game. The ticket for entry to the CNU women's basketball game will also be valid for the CNU men's basketball game at 4:00 pm. The CNU Storm will not be performing a halftime at this game due to the Hall of Fame ceremony.  
 
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain an inside perspective of the world of college dance team and to prepare yourself for the upcoming audition season.  We welcome groups as well as individuals and will look forward to dancing with you!
