NEWPORT NEWS, Va. --
The Christopher Newport women's lacrosse team will wrap up its regular season home slate on Saturday at 2 p.m. when the Captains host Frostburg State in a Capital Athletic Conference battle.

CNU enters the weekend with a 7-8 record, including a 1-3 mark against league foes. Meanwhile, FSU sits at 3-10 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

For those fans unable to attend the game, live stats and a video stream of the action will be available at CNUsports.com. Direct links to both features can be found at the top of this release and on the CNU schedule page.

Prior to Saturday's contest, Christopher Newport will hold its annual Senior Day ceremony while celebrating the accomplishments of the program's fourth-year standouts. Together, Anna Bowers, Sarah Culver, Julia Golden, and Sasha Towne have helped the Captains register a 39-30 record since the start of the 2016 campaign. Along the way, CNU climbed as high as 15th in the IWLCA National Rankings and advanced to the semifinals of the CAC Tournament during each of the last two seasons.

Entering the contest, Culver is on the cusp of history. The senior is just three goals shy of becoming the third Captain to reach the 200-goal plateau. She would also become only the seventh player in the history of the Capital Athletic Conference to reach that mark and the 21st active player at any level of the NCAA to hit 200 career tallies.

Along with Culver, Kaitlyn Ready is only three saves away from posting her 500th career stop. The junior star already set the program standard earlier this season and would become only the 15th active Division III goalie to reach that milestone. She would also be just the sixth junior across all levels of the NCAA to accomplish that feat.

So far this season, Ready ranks fourth in the NCAA with 168 total saves. Meanwhile, on the offensive end, the Captains are 22nd in the nation in shooting percentage while converting at a .504 clip. The squad also boasts a .500 free-position percentage. Christopher Newport is just one of six programs in the country that has converted at least half of its shots from both the field and the eight-meter arc this season.

On the other side of the field, Frostburg State has dropped its last two decisions against No. 4 Salisbury and No. 8 York (Pa.). Despite the setbacks, the Bobcats have continued to receive big contributions from the Cavey sisters. Morgan, a senior on the team, ranks sixth in the conference with 33 goals, including five against the nationally-ranked Spartans in her last appearance. Meanwhile, Summer, a sophomore, sits third in the CAC with 55 draw controls, including 13 during an impressive showcase against Misericordia last month.

Along with the sibling standouts, Abigail McClure ranks third in the league with 118 saves. She has seven double-digit efforts this year, including 10 stops against York (Pa.). Stephanie King also leads FSU with 45 points this season and was honored as the CAC Offensive Player of the Week on April 1 after notching 16 total points during a pair of outings for the Bobcats.

In nine previous meetings between the two programs, Christopher Newport holds a 6-3 edge in the series, including a 22-8 win last year in Maryland. During that showdown, Culver erupted for five goals, while Cat Leighty added a hat-trick and established a new freshman single-game record with 12 draw controls. For that performance, Leighty was honored as the CAC Offensive Player of the Week.
