NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The top two Division III softball programs in the nation will square off on Sunday afternoon in a non-conference doubleheader. The second-ranked Captains of Christopher Newport, 15-1 and riding a 15-game winning streak, will travel to Virginia Beach to take on the 18-1 and top-ranked Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan. The opener is slated to begin at 1:30 p.m. at TowneBank Park and Tom & Betty Broyles Field on the VWU campus.
Keith Parr's Captains are currently ranked higher than ever before in program history. CNU dropped its first game of the season and has since won 15 straight, most recently a doubleheader sweep last Sunday over Roanoke at Captains Park.
