FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Scotty Hunter and Dominic Lacombe each picked up one more singles victory in the championship draw of the 2019 ITA Southeast Regional Championships before falling out of contention in the Quarterfinal round on Saturday. The Captains also combined for three wins in the consolation bracket on the second day of competition. 

The biggest win of the day came for top-seeded Lacombe as he dispatched of No. 9 seed Sam Gibson out of Carnegie Mellon University in the Round of 16. Lacombe won in straight sets 6-4, 6-1, and advanced to the quarterfinals. No. 5 seed Scotty Hunter also advanced courtesy of a 6-3, 7-6 (4) win over Matthew Lurie from Johns Hopkins University. 

In the quarterfinals, a pair of seeded opponents ended the Captains' run. No. 9 seed Marc Gomez (Stevens) defeated Lacombe, 7-5, 6-4 and No. 2 seed Alexander Angradi (Salisbury) downed Hunter, 6-4, 6-7 (7), 6-1. 

Andy Mason and Matthew Dubuque each earned wins in the consolation bracket and Mason advanced another round after his opponent was forced to retire due to injury. 

All four doubles tandems were eliminated from the championship draw in the Round of 16 on Saturday with Scott Hunter/Ryan Macy and James Baron/Andy Mason each posting tight 8-6 losses to seeded tandems.
