NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Continuing the trend of scheduling tough out-of-conference opponents, the 28th-ranked Christopher Newport men's tennis team will face a pair of stiff tests this weekend, hosting 32nd-ranked N.C. Wesleyan College on Friday at 5:00 pm and 13th-ranked Case Western Reserve on Sunday at 10:00 am.
The Captains are coming off a pair of wins in the opening weekend over Methodist and Millsaps, improving to 3-1 overall on the season. The two home bouts this weekend will conclude a four-match homestand before heading West for the team's annual California trip.
It will be the 34th career matchup between N.C. Wesleyan and the Captains, with the Battling Bishops picking up a narrow win, 5-4, last season. CNU owns a 21-12 advantage in the all-time series as the two programs faced off as conference foes in the USA South Athletic Conference until 2012. The bout against Case Western Reserve is the first all-time meeting between the two programs.
This season the Captains are undefeated on lines 4-6 in singles action, led by matching 4-0 records from
Andy Mason and
Nicholas Ruzicka.
William Trang and
Dominic Lacombe have added two wins apiece in the bottom of the order in singles play. Senior

In doubles play,
