Box Score NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- After losing just one match in an impressive team showing on Saturday in the CNU Invitational, the Christopher Newport men's tennis team put an emphatic punctuation mark on the weekend's results with another dominant outing on Sunday. The Captains faced off against Shenandoah and picked up four more doubles wins and seven victories in singles play. 

For the weekend, the Captains were 10-0 in doubles play and 19-2 in singles action. 

On Sunday's second day of CNU Invitational tournament play, the Captains took on the Hornets and rolled through a number of wins. In doubles, Preston Green and John lee paired up for an 8-1 win against Max Arkans and Jacob Kim. Jackson Grathwohl and Jamison Wallace also earned a big win, 8-2, against Tommy Cowell and Marcel Mizerski. Gabe Smith and Rainer Christiansen teamed up for an 8-3 win against Lucas Beasley and Ben Brasfield. Rounding out the doubles sweep was Ivan Ceric and Sam Halvorsen outlasting Gray Broermann and Shine Tokas by a final score of 8-7 (3). 

In singles, Christiansen raced to a 6-1, 6-2 win against Tokas before Green, David Garcia Carrasco, and Matthew Onoff also cruised to straight set victories. Green defeated Kim (6-2, 6-2), Garcia Carrasco downed Broerman (6-0, 6-1), and Onoff earned a win against Tommy Cowell (6-3, 6-3). CNU also got wins from Gabe Smith (6-3, 7-5) against Lucas Beasley, Ivan Ceric (6-3, 4-6, 10-5) versus Ben Brasfield, and Jackson Grathwohl (6-7 (2), 6-2, 10-8) against Marcel Mizerski. 

The other match of the day featured Batten University against Salisbury University. 

CNU will return to action at the ITA Southeast Regionals on October 1-4.
