Â
Coming into the contest, Christopher Newport is riding a 13-match winning streak, which is tied for the fifth-longest active roll in the nation. The program has also won 17 straight regular season conference tilts dating back to the 2016 campaign. That run also ranks as the 10th-longest in the NCAA.
Â
So far this season, the Captains have received tremendous contributions from the front row. The squad is currently averaging 2.16 blocks per set, which stands as the 13th-best rate in the NCAA. On an individual level,
Riley Garrison leads the conference and sits 17th in the country with a 1.13 blocks-per-set mark.
Mackenzie Wright also ranks third in the CAC with a 0.96 average, and
Megan O'Hara is sixth with a 0.81 mark.
Â
Equally dangerous on the offensive end, Garrison is third in the conference with a .321 hitting percentage, and
Lauren Tracy is third with an 8.25 assists-per-set rate.
Katie Piper has also contributed consistent power along the pin with a 2.68 kills-per-set average. That ranks fifth in the CAC. The junior has clubbed at least 10 kills in each of her last four appearances, including three straight double-doubles.
Â
On the other side, Mary Washington has won four of its last five outings. All four victories have been sweeps, including a 3-0 triumph at Salisbury on Saturday. The Eagles have benefited from outstanding work on the back row. Ryan Cho ranks fifth in the CAC with a 4.61 digs-per-set average, while her 364 total digs place her third among conference competitors.
Â
On the offensive side, Leslie Walters, Peyton Dunow, and Savannah Powers are all averaging over two kills per set. Freshman Alaina Harris has also popped 149 kills this year while hitting at a .260 clip. Helping pace the attack, Kendal Hall and Wren Berry are both averaging five assists per frame. Berry was especially effective in her last appearance with 33 helpers during the three-set win at Salisbury.
Â
In 34 previous meetings between the two programs, Mary Washington holds a 23-11 advantage. However, Christopher Newport won both battles last year, including a five-set thriller in the CAC Championship.
