Nicholas Ruzicka highlighted the day's action for Christopher Newport men's tennis at the Joe Hunt Invitational, picking up a pair of singles wins. Ruzicka won in straight sets against both of his Division I opponents.Â
Ruzicka will play for 9th place in the consolation bracket final of the "Yellow" flight on Sunday. He will take on Navy's Walker Sims in his final match of the weekend. The CNU veteran dispatched of St. Bonaventure's Blake McGuirt (6-1, 6-0) and then downed Navy's Andrey Majkic (6-1, 6-4).Â
Jackson Guilford took seventh place in the "Orange" flight with a default victory against Michael Fleming from Mary Washington.
Dominic Lacombe will play for fifth place on Sunday after capturing a hard-fought win over Mary Washington's Moses Hutchison (4-6, 7-5, 3-1).Â
In doubles play,
David Reed and
Justin Cerny dropped a pairing from George Mason by a final score of 7-6 and will compete  for 13th place in the "Blue" flight on Sunday. Rookies
James Baron and
Mitch Brody also captured a win in the "Orange" flight, 6-2, over a St. Bonaventure duo.Â
