FAIRFAX, Va. -- On Saturday morning, the nationally-ranked Christopher Newport women's tennis team wrapped up the 2017 regular season with a loss at Division I George Mason University, 5-2. The Captains continue to impress against tough competition, picking up a pair of wins in singles play and stretching another match to three sets.
Playing Division I scoring rules, the Captains fell behind 1-0 after doubles as the Patriots won all three bouts. All three matches went in the book as 6-3 wins for the home team, with
Kate Huck and
Johanna Ranta-aho playing on the top line for CNU.
Lily Schreiber and
Katie Carlson were at No. 2 for the Captains, and
Isabelle Wessel and
