NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - It will be the final non-conference action of the season for Christopher Newport Tuesday, as the 20th-ranked Captains host the Statesmen of Richard Bland College. The softball doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. at Captains Park. It will be the first meeting ever of the schools.

CNU is 15-7 overall and 2-0 in Capital Athletic Conference play. Keith Parr's squad is coming off a 3-1 weekend that saw the Captains sweep Wesley in Dover, Delaware, on Saturday and then split with Penn State-Behrend at Captains Park on Sunday.

Tuesday's twin bill will mark the third doubleheader in a four-day span for the Captains, who will have six CAC doubleheaders remaining in the regular season.

Richard Bland will enter play on Tuesday with a 9-12 record so far this season.
