Keith Parr's Captains are now ranked 11th in the country in the newest poll from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). CNU has a record of 11-3 following a split with Virginia Wesleyan on Sunday at Captains Park, and handed the Marlins their first loss of the season in the opening game.
CNU has been led at the plate this season so far by senior first baseman
Jenna Sprinkle, who is hitting .542 with a team-high 26 hits and 20 runs batted in over the first 14 games.
In the pitching circle, freshman
Aubrey Bates is off to a 5-0 start with an earned run average of just 1.24. Bates has also recorded a save this season.
The Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon are ranked 17th in the nation this week and are 11-1 to start the season.
Following Thursday's games, the Captains will host Roanoke College at Captains Park on Sunday. The opening game will begin at 1:00 p.m.
