CNU Men's Soccer Ranked No. 9 This Week; Travels to Face Lynchburg Wednesday Night

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- The nationally-ranked Captains men's soccer team is back in action on Wednesday, hitting the road for a big regional matchup with Lynchburg College (4-0-2) at 7:00 pm. Live stats and a live video webcast will be available for the action, with links at CNUsports.com.

The game will wrap up a three-game road trip and a stretch that included four of five games away from Captains Field. CNU will be coming off a loss for the first time this season after dropping a 5-3 decision at Chapman University and seeing their overall record fall to 6-1-0.

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) dropped the CNU men's soccer team one spot in the Top 25 this week, but the Captains are still a top ten team, ranked 9th in the nation. CNU slipped to No. 2 in the South Atlantic region, while Lynchburg is now fourth in the region, setting the table for a key matchup on Wednesday night.

Led by CAC Offensive Player of the Week, Jimmy Grace, the Captains have registered multiple goals in all seven games this season, and lead the nation in goals scored this year. Grace is coming off a two-goal, two-assist performance last week that vaulted him to the top of the CNU scoring chart, tied with sophomore Stephen Durbin for the team lead.

Lynchburg comes into the game after a 1-0 win at Berry College on Saturday, capping a four-game stretch that saw the offense score 15 goals. Junior Fredy Flores leads the attack with three goals and two assists this season.
