BOSTON, Mass. -- The Christopher Newport men's soccer team picked up another win and a draw at home this weekend to maintain an unbeaten streak to start the year. Helping lead the way was senior defender Yazan Yaghmmour who was named the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. 

Yaghmmour assisted on two of the three CNU goals against Mount Union before adding the game's first goal in a 1-1 draw against North Carolina Wesleyan. Against the Bishops, his header off a free kick from Colin Skwirut was the only goal scored and proved imperative in a 1-1 draw. In the win against Mount Union, he had assists on the second and third goals of the game. He centered a pass for Drew McWhinney, who unleashed a howitzer into the upper 90, and then he played a long overpass to Michael Hackworth for a double assist on Riley Usher's final goal of the match. 

His four-point performance in two days moved him into a tie for third on the team in scoring with six points this season. He has two goals and two assists this season to match his career high for scoring just five games into the year. 

In addition to his offensive production, Yaghmmour also played almost all 180 minutes during the week. He helped contribute to the third shutout of the season with 81 minutes against the Purple Raiders before playing full time with one goal allowed versus N.C. Wesleyan. 

This season, the CNU defense has surrendered just two goals in over 513 minutes played for a 0.35 goals-against average. The Captains have three complete game shutouts so far with the veteran back line leading the way. 

Yaghmmour joins Matt Yates as honored Captains this season after Yates was named the Defensive Player of the Week last week.
