NEWPORT NEWS, Va.- Christopher Newport softball is back at home Wednesday for a non-conference doubleheader. The fourth-ranked Captains take on the Avenging Angels of Meredith College. The first game is set to start at 4:00 p.m. at Captains Park.

Keith Parr's squad is heading down the home stretch of the regular season, with six doubleheaders remaining before the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament. All six twin bills are set to be played over the next 11 days, with five scheduled at Captains Park.

CNU is 23-4 overall and 5-1 in the CAC. The Captains are coming off four straight wins last weekend in Pennsylvania, with back-to-back sweeps of York and Penn State-Harrisburg.

Meredith enters play Wednesday with a mark of 19-13. The Avenging Angels, members of the USA South Athletic Conference, have won their last six games...most recently a sweep at Ferrum on Sunday.

Following Wednesday's non-conference action, Christopher Newport will host CAC doubleheaders this Saturday and Sunday at Captains Park. CNU plays Southern Virginia on Saturday and Frostburg State on Sunday. Both twin bills are set to start at 1:00 p.m.
