Softball to Play Frostburg State Next in CAC Tournament Elimination Game

Storms in Salisbury, MD, May Delay Game Until Late Friday Afternoon

SALISBURY, MD.- The five-team Capital Athletic Conference Tournament has been pared to three, but storms in the region are now forcing a delay in the action. Christopher Newport (33-6) will play Frostburg State (25-13) once the weather permits, most likely late Friday afternoon.

CNU was beaten by Salisbury, 7-3, Friday morning in the first game of the day at Sea Gull Stadium. Frostburg State eliminated Mary Washington, 4-3, in the second game that concluded shortly after 2:30 p.m.

Storms rolling through the area have forced officials to tarp the field and delay the start of the final game of the day between the Captains and Bobcats.

The championship of the double-elimination tournament is scheduled to be played Saturday morning beginning at 10:00 a.m. Salisbury, the top seed in the field, will play the CNU/Frostburg State winner.

Christopher Newport and Frostburg State played on Thursday, and the Captains defeated the Bobcats, 4-3. The teams split their doubleheader at Captains Park during the regular season.
