ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. -- Entering the final week of the regular season, the Christopher Newport men's lacrosse team will travel to St. Mary's (Md.) for a Capital Athletic Conference showdown at 4 p.m. on Wednesday at Seahawk Stadium.
Coming into the contest, CNU boasts an 11-3 overall record and a 5-1 mark in league action. St. Mary's (Md.) stands at 4-7 with a 2-4 record against CAC foes.

A LOOK AT THE CAPTAINS Christopher Newport is a well-balanced team that ranks among the national leaders on both sides of the ball. On the offensive end, the Captains rank seventh nationally with 105 assists this year, while their man-up attack has a .400 conversion percentage, which stands 34th in the NCAA and second in the CAC. Meanwhile, on the defensive side, CNU is 13th in the NCAA in ground balls (484), 22nd in caused turnovers-per-game (11.71), and 23rd in saves (157).
On an individual level,
Brandon Moloney is averaging 2.71 caused turnovers per contest, which places him 21st in the NCAA and first in the conference.
Matthew Crist also ranks among the top-50 nationally with a .450 shooting percentage, while
Will Geise is fifth in the league with 18 assists.
Matt Hayden also sports a .544 save percentage and a 9.23 goals-against-average.
LAST TIME OUT On Saturday, CNU doubled-up Wesley, 20-10, in Dover.
Joey Rolando led the Captains with five goals, while
Randy Foster snapped off four. Geise and
Harrison Drier also added hat-tricks to help balanced out a well-rounded attack. Equally impressive,
Tony Cruz won 21 of his 27 faceoff attempts, while Moloney forced four turnovers. Hayden also contributed eight saves while earning his 11th victory of the year, which established a new single-season program record.
SCOUTING THE SEAHAWKS St. Mary's (Md.) snapped a two-game skid on Saturday when the squad upended Marymount, 13-7, on Senior Day. Against the Saints, Conor Jordan and Brendan Steele both scored four times for the Seahawks, while Max Alderman contributed 14 saves to earn the victory.
Overall this season, Jordan leads SMC and ranks fourth in the conference with 51 points and 20 assists. Steele and Austin Toland are tied for second on the team with 17 goals. St. Mary's has also utilized several different faceoff specialists during the year, including Caleb Jardeleza (50-of-114) and Teddy Secor (73-of-158). On the defensive side, Mike Freiji has forced a team-high 17 turnovers, and Alderman sports a .480 save percentage and a 13.53 goals-against-average.
SERIES HISTORY CNU and St. Mary's have met seven times with the Seahawks holding a 6-1 edge in the series. The Captains posted their first victory last year with a 13-10 triumph in Newport News.
