NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The 29th-ranked Christopher Newport men's tennis team won it's fourth straight match on Sunday, capturing a 6-0 win against St. Mary's College of Maryland (5-5, 1-1). With a singles win at No. 1, junior
Arttu Fiva picked up his 50th career win and moved into the Top Ten all-time in career victories at CNU.
The Captains improved to 8-5 overall with a 3-0 mark against league foes, all coming in shutout fashion this weekend. CNU wrapped up a successful weekend against the CAC with another dominating victory on Sunday. In three matches against the league this weekend, Christopher Newport was 21-0 in individual matches.
Fiva's win highlighted the action, as he improves to 50-27 all-time for a winning percentage of .649. Fiva tied Adam Peters (2003-06) and Robert Dowen (1990-93) in career singles victories and moves into a tie for 9th all-time at CNU. On Sunday, Fiva played at No. 1 for the first time in his career and improved to 10-3 in duals this season, and 16-5 overall. He downed St. Mary's senior Robert Bishop (6-0, 6-0) for the win.

Michael Dodd dropped just one game to Wyatt Paulishak at No. 2 singles (6-0, 6-1) and
William Trang raced past Byron Dickerson at No. 3 (6-0, 6-3). The match was played to a team decision and concluded with the Captains winning, 6-0.
CNU opened up a 3-0 lead on the Seahawks after doubles, led by an 8-1 victory at No. 1 for senior
Chiraag Shetty and
Steven Boslet. CNU's top tandem improved to 11-7 overall this season with six wins at No. 1, taking down Robert Bishop and Troy Spurrier.
For the second match in a row, Dodd stepped in at No. 2 to play with
David Reed, earning an 8-3 win over Paulishak and Nick Ersoy, and CNU also got an 8-2 win at No. 3 from Fiva and Trang over Dickerson and Shane Brogan.
After three straight matches in league play, the Captains will now focus on their next challenge in non-conference action, scheduled to play No. 13 Johns Hopkins on the road this Saturday, March 26.
