CNU Women's Lacrosse Hosts Randolph-Macon on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. --
Riding a four-game winning streak, the Christopher Newport women's lacrosse team will look to continue its roll on Wednesday at 4 p.m. when CNU welcomes Randolph-Macon to town for a non-conference battle at Captains Turf Field.
 
CNU enters the game with a 5-1 record, including a 2-1 mark in home games. Meanwhile, Randolph-Macon sits at 1-2 overall with a 1-1 record on the road.

A LOOK AT THE CAPTAINS
 
Entering Wednesday's tilt, Christopher Newport ranks first in the conference and 26th in the nation with a 15.00 goals-per-game average. Lethal on free-position attempts, the Captains have converted 58 percent of their eight-meter opportunities, which places the squad 26th in the NCAA this year. Their 22 total free-position goals also currently rank second in the conference.
 
Equally effective on the defensive end, CNU sits 19th nationally with a .567 save percentage. Emma Walsh has been at the forefront of the defensive dominance as the freshman stands 16th in the NCAA with 50 saves and 19th nationally with a .581 save percentage.
 
Among other national leaders, Meaghan Galvin is averaging 7.33 draw controls per game, which places her ninth in the country. She also sits 19th in the NCAA with 12 assists and 21st with 29 total points. Galvin, Catie Chess, and Sarah Culver all rank in the top-100 in goals as well.
 
LAST TIME OUT
 
On Saturday, Christopher Newport kicked off Capital Athletic Conference action with a 19-1 victory over Wesley in Dover, Delaware. During that contest, 11 different Captains scored at least one goal, while Chess and Anna Bowers both registered hat-tricks. Colleen Bourgal also tallied four points, while Galvin, Culver, and Kylie Chaplin added three points apiece.
 
On the defensive end, Chess and Mariah Ginebra both forced three turnovers, while Emma Walsh and Hanna Slough combined to make three stops while limiting the Wolverines to just one goal. Galvin also added a game-high nine draw controls as well.
 
SCOUTING THE YELLOW JACKETS
 
Randolph-Macon enters Wednesday's game after defeating Goucher, 15-6, on Saturday. During that game, Alicia Hsieh scored eight goals for the Yellow Jackets, while Alex Lightfoot contributed seven assists. Overall this season, Lightfoot ranks second in the nation with a 4.33 assists-per-game average, while Hsieh leads the team with 15 goals.
 
Similar to the Captains, Randolph-Macon has been especially successful on draws this season. The Yellow Jackets are averaging 15.33 draw controls per game, which ranks 18th in the NCAA. Meanwhile, on the defensive end, Allie Walker has a .466 save percentage and a 10.33 goals-against-average. Jenelle Whitman also boasts a team-high four caused turnovers to go along with six points on the offensive side.
 
SERIES HISTORY
 
CNU and Randolph-Macon have battled 13 times with the Yellow Jackets holding a 7-6 edge in the all-time series. Christopher Newport had won three straight meetings before suffering a 12-9 setback last year in Ashland. During that contest, Galvin scored four goals for the Captains, while Lightfoot matched that effort with four scores for the Yellow Jackets.
