Along with Cheatham, freshman
Cori Black and sophomore
Mackenzie Neylon tacked on their first career goals against the Eagles, while
Sarah Miller rounded out the scoring with a second-half strike. On the defensive end,
Bailey Lien earned the victory after contributing a pair of saves, while

SCOUTING THE PANTHERSIn the team's first action of the season, Ferrum was led by Courtney Gosslin, who made 14 saves against Roanoke. Sierra Magdalengo and Kelly Savage also uncorked shots against the Maroons, but the squad struggled to find a rhythm offensively and eventually dropped the 6-0 decision.
Led by head coach Carrie Hanshue Austin, the Ferrum field hockey program is in its second season after being reinstated last year. An independent member of the NCAA, the Panthers will join the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) in 2016.
SERIES HISTORYSunday's game will mark the second all-time meeting between CNU and Ferrum. Last year, the Captains posted a 6-0 victory behind a six-point outburst by former All-American
Belle Tunstall.
