Live Stats

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- For the second straight year, the Christopher Newport women's tennis team will host Salisbury University in the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament Semifinals. The 40th-ranked Captains (13-5) will host the Sea Gulls (13-6) at 3:00 pm on Wednesday with a championship berth on the line.

CNU earned the second seed and right to host Wednesday's semifinal match with a 6-3 win over Salisbury less than a week ago, dropping the Sea Gulls to the three seed. The Captains hosted Salisbury in the semifinals last season, suffering a 7-2 loss in their first CAC Tournament appearance.

This season, the Captains come in the seventh-ranked team in the Atlantic South, while Salisbury checks in at No. 8. Live stats will be available for the CAC Semifinal, set to begin at 3:00 pm. Fans watching live stats are encouraged to refresh often, as the page will not automatically refresh.

The re-match comes just five days after CNU earned the right to host. Last week, CNU swept singles play against Salisbury, led by an impressive win for rookie McKinney Harwood at the top line.  Harwood, ranked No. 14 in the Atlantic South, will likely be facing Natalie Savage, ranked No. 12, again on Wednesday, after capturing a 7-6 (9-7), 7-5 win over the Sea Gulls' junior last week.

Harwood is one of five Captains with double-digit singles wins, grabbing 10 wins at the No. 1 line. Fellow rookie Kate Huck is 13-4 in duals to lead the team, while sophomore Katie Carlson is 12-4. Freshman Alexandra Drye and sophomore Logan Eldridge each have 11 victories this Spring as CNU has won nearly 71% of their singles matches as a team. In doubles, Drye and Eldridge are 9-1 overall at No. 3, leading a 14-4 overall mark for CNU this spring.

Including the 3-0 mark against CNU last week, Salisbury boasts a dominant overall mark in doubles action this season, winning over 77% of their matches in pairs. Savage plays with Katie Youlios for a 14-5 overall record at No. 1, while Claudia Lohn and Charlotte Walker are 14-4 at No. 2. Rounding out the exceptional pairings are Allison Lutz and Megan Soderlund, winning 12 of 16 matches at No. 3.

The winning team will advance to play for the 2015 CAC Women's Tennis Championship, against the winner of the No. 1 Mary Washington vs. #4 St. Mary's (Md.) match, also being played on Wednesday.
