NEWPORT NEWS, Va.- Christopher Newport and Mary Washington will meet Wednesday afternoon at Captains Park in an important Capital Athletic Conference softball doubleheader. The first game is set to start at 3:00 p.m.
The Captains are ranked 24th in the nation and riding a four-game winning streak.
Keith Parr's squad is 15-6 overall and 4-0 in CAC play. The Eagles of Mary Washington enter play with a 12-8 mark and an 0-2 record in conference action.
CNU is coming off a successful weekend that saw the Captains sweep two conference doubleheaders on the road. Christopher Newport's offense posted big numbers as CNU scored 57 runs in the four victories at Southern Virginia and Frostburg State, an average of just over 14 runs per game. CNU's team batting average has now surged to .312 for the season.
