NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The Christopher Newport men's tennis team ran its win streak to four on Saturday, cruising past Capital Athletic Conference foes from Penn State Harrisburg, 9-0, and York College of Pennsylvania, 9-0. The 39th-ranked Captains improved to 11-5 overall with a perfect 4-0 mark to start league play.

First thing Saturday morning, the Captains and Lions (3-4, 1-2) took to the CNU Courts outside, braving frigid temperatures for their conference matchup at 10:00 am. CNU swiftly jumped out to a 3-0 lead with a doubles sweep, including a pair of 8-0 wins at No. 2 and 3. On the second line, Steven Boslet paired with Max Katcher for an 8-0 win over Tyler Cook and Brandon Wolf, while teammates Michael Dodd and Arttu Fiva won by the same score at No. 3, against James Moore and Mahesh Subramanian.

Heading into singles play with a commanding lead, the Captains never let off the gas, battling the cold weather for six dominant wins. Boslet won 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2, taking on Johnny Xue, and no Captain dropped more than three games in the six straight set victories. Regionally-ranked David Reed captured a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles over Steven Magee and Justin Cerny ran his team-high win streak to six (and eventually seven later in the day) with a win at No. 3, 6-0, 6-1.

After the first win of the day, the Captains took their action indoors to the Centre Court Racquet Club, facing off against York College. It was again quick work for the CNU men as they posted three 6-0, 6-0 singles wins on lines 2-4. Boslet, Cerny and Fiva collected the shutout individual victories, in order. In other singles play, Reed dropped just a single game for a 6-1, 6-0 win over George Sosa, while Michael Dodd and Dillon Sykes clinched the team shutout with wins at 5 and 6, respectively.

In doubles, Cerny and Reed grabbed their second win at No. 1 on the day, capturing an 8-2 victory against Kaltrin Bullaj and Daniel Erk. Boslet and Shetty capped a perfect day at No. 2, winning 8-0 against Matt Rosenkrantz and Jake Greenstein, and the Captains No. 3 tandem of Fiva and Katcher won, 8-1, topping Zach Hanson and Rory Handlin.

The weekend is not over for the Captains, as they will take on their fifth nationally-ranked opponent of the season on Sunday. CNU will travel to a neutral court in Lexington, Va. to face off against ninth-ranked Carnegie-Mellon University. The CNU-CMU matchup is set to begin at 10:00 am.
