NEWPORT NEWS, Va.- The Christopher Newport University softball team will play host to the Avenging Angels of Meredith College Wednesday afternoon. The non-conference doubleheader will be played at the York County Sports Complex, and will begin at 3:30 p.m.

The Captains are ranked tenth in the nation and have a record of 5-4. Keith Parr's squad is coming off a split on Sunday at Randolph-Macon that saw the Captains get shut out in the opener, 8-0 in five innings, and then bounce back to take the nightcap, 11-2.

Meredith will enter play on Wednesday with an overall record of 12-4, and the Avenging Angels are 6-2 and in second place in the USA South Athletic Conference.

The games will be the first considered home games of the season for CNU due to weather-related postponements and construction work continuing at Captains Park on the CNU campus. The York County Sports Complex features a number of fields, and the games on Wednesday will be played on field #5.
