NEWPORT NEWS, Va.- The Christopher Newport University softball team heads to Ashland Sunday for a non-conference doubleheader against the Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon College. The first game is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start.
Keith Parr's Captains are 4-3 so far this season, and CNU is presently ranked tenth in the nation. Christopher Newport is coming off a split at Lynchburg College on Thursday that saw CNU win the opener, 6-4, and then lose the nightcap in eight innings, 2-1.
CNU has been led at the plate in the early season by sophomore outfielder
Rachael Shiflett, who is hitting .409 through the first seven games.
Randolph-Macon is 3-1 and coming off two wins at Mary Washington on Thursday. The Yellow Jackets won by scores of 6-2 and 7-3 over the Eagles.
