NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Head coach Keith Parr of the fifth-ranked Christopher Newport University softball team has announced the rescheduling of a doubleheader against Averett University, now set for Monday, March 2 in Danville, Va. The Captains will open the season on the road after seeing their opening week's action cancelled as winter weather wreaks havoc on the Southeast. 

CNU, ranked No. 5 in the NFCA Preseason National Rankings, was scheduled to open the season on February 21 in Atlanta, and also had four games scheduled for this weekend that have been rescheduled. A part of this weekend's games was a home set against the Averett Cougars, that will now be moved to Monday for the Captains season opener. 

Game times have been announced for 1:30 and 3:30 pm Monday afternoon.
