CNU Softball to Play Emory Sunday in Salem

SALEM, Va.- Rain in Salem has caused some scheduling changes, but it was determined Sunday morning the Captains of Christopher Newport will play Emory University Sunday afternoon at the Moyer Complex. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m.

Emory knocked out the host school, Roanoke, by a score of 8-1 in a game that began Saturday afternoon and was suspended due to heavy rain. The game resumed at 9 a.m. Sunday morning.

The Captains eliminated Neumann earlier in the day on Saturday, 10-4, to advance.

Piedmont and Salisbury, the two schools remaining without a loss in the double elimination tournament, will play prior to the CNU-Emory matchup.

The Captains, now 34-12, will take on an Emory squad that is now 41-4. CNU is the number four seed, while Emory is the number two seed in Salem.
