No. 19 CNU Women’s Lacrosse Takes on Adrian in a Neutral Site Showdown on Friday at 10:30 a.m.

HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- Boasting a four-game winning streak, the No. 19 Christopher Newport women's lacrosse team will look to continue its roll on Friday when the squad battles Adrian in a neutral site showdown at Chaplin Park Field on Hilton Head Island at 10:30 a.m.

After knocking off Agnes Scott, 22-3, in their USA South opener on Wednesday, the Captains come into play with a 4-1 record. Adrian is a perfect 3-0 entering Friday's tilt, highlighted by a 17-7 win over Misericordia in the team's last contest.

Looking to continue her outstanding start to the season, Ashton Marshall enters play ranked second in the nation with 24 goals and fifth with 28 points. She has scored at least four times in each of her last three games and opened the season with a seven-goal surge against Mary Washington.

Between the pipes, Hanna Slough has been exceptional this year, posting 36 saves while surrendering just 8.15 goals-per-game. Lauren King also leads the team with 17 draw controls, while Emily Johnson has 10 caused turnovers and 18 ground balls. Rachel Tomlinson has been hot of late as well, tallying three points and four draw controls during her last outing.

On the other side of the field, Adrian has been led by a well-balanced attack so far this season. The Bulldogs boast four players with at least five goals, including Olivia Duncan who has scored a team-high eight times. Maddie McDonald has anchored the defense, posting a .545 save percentage during her time in goal.

After spending the last two weeks on the road, Christopher Newport will return home for a 7 p.m. battle against Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday, March 13.
