BURLINGTON, N.C. -- Senior
Eric Shulman was named the USA South Men's Tennis Tournament MVP for the third straight year, but the Captains were unable to unseat the now four-time defending USA South Champion N.C. Wesleyan Battling Bishops (16-2), falling 7-2.
Shulman dropped his first set to Rinat Khussainov, but bounced back to win 6-7 (0-7), 6-3, 10-5 at No. 1 singles in his final USA South Tournament match. He improves to 17-5 on the season with the win.
CNU also picked up a win at No. 2 doubles, when
Gian Heyer and
Joey Manilla won in a tiebreak, 9-8 (8-6) over Khussainov and Peter Hviid.
Joining Shulman on the All-Tournament team was doubles partner and Captains No. 3 singles player,
Matt King.
