NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Christopher Newport University men's lacrosse team fell to Ithaca College 13-3 today at Captains Field.

The Captains and Bombers went back and forth in the first period with each team scoring just one goal. Tom Mongelli scored his first of five goals for the Bombers at the 10:50 mark. CNU answered with a goal from Adam Abbate with just over two minutes left in the period.

The Bombers came out strong in the second period scoring five unanswered goals for a 6-1 halftime score. After one Ithaca goal in the third, the Captains put their second goal on the board from Chase Walton. Ithaca finished out the third period with five straight goals for a 12-2 lead.

The final period saw one goal from each team. Kyle Pasta scored for the Captains making it a 13-3 final.

Ithaca outshot the Captains 52 to 30 and picked up 21 ground balls to the Captains' 14.

The Captains travel to Roanoke on Wednesday to take on the Maroons at 4:00pm.
