CNU Men's Lacrosse Announces Team Captains for 2026 Campaign

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Mason Bellinger and AJ Rosacker have been named team captains for the Christopher Newport men's lacrosse program, while Kevin Miller will serve as an assistant captain during the upcoming 2026 campaign.

Rosacker previously served as a team captain in 2025, while Bellinger was an assistant captain last year. Meanwhile, Miller will hold a leadership position for the first time during his junior campaign.

One of the top goalkeepers in the nation, Bellinger hauled in All-American accolades from USILA and USA Lacrosse Magazine for his performance last spring. During his junior season, he ranked 16th in the NCAA with 241 saves, while his 17 victories marked the third-most by a Captain in program history. Additionally, he led the league with a .555 save percentage, and his 10.19 goals-against-average was the second-best effort by a conference competitor.

Appearing in all 22 games last year, Bellinger pocketed at least 10 saves on 13 occasions, including all five postseason contests. Overall, he enters his senior campaign ranked fifth in school history with 258 total stops, while his .554 save percentage is the second-best rate by a Captain.

An elite long-stick midfielder, Rosacker continued his standout career with a dominant junior season in 2025. During the year, he ranked 10th in the Coastal Lacrosse Conference with 28 caused turnovers. A consistent contributor on the defensive end, he had at least one takeaway in 16 of his appearances and pocketed two or more on nine occasions. He also ranked first among the team's defensive midfielders with 51 ground balls last spring.

A former All-Conference honoree, Rosacker has seen action in 60 games over the past three seasons. Over that time, he has averaged 1.32 takeaways per contest, which stands as the ninth-highest rate in program lore. Additionally, his 79 total strips place him third in school history among long-stick midfielders.

Entering his junior year, Miller burst onto the national stage with a remarkable sophomore campaign. During the 2025 season, he was a consensus All-American, including a first-team selection by USILA. Honored as the VaSID All-State Player of the Year, he led the NCAA and set new single-season school records with 81 assists and 115 total points. His 81 helpers also marked the ninth-most in Division III lore and the 11th-highest total by any player in collegiate lacrosse history.

Aided by his efforts last fall, Miller has quickly climbed up the program's all-time career charts. His 103 assists are the fourth-most by a Captain, while he sits 10th in school history with 165 points. Meanwhile, his 3.93 points-per-game average is the third-highest all-time, trailing only longtime legends Andrew Cook and Dylan Rice.

Christopher Newport is coming off of a 2025 season in which the Captains posted an 18-4 record while advancing to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the fifth straight year.
