2026 Schedule
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- With the 2026 campaign less than three months away, the Christopher Newport men's lacrosse team unveiled its spring schedule, which includes five battles against reigning conference champions and nine games against programs that advanced to last year's NCAA Tournament.
Among CNU's upcoming foes, seven finished last year ranked in the top-20 of the USILA National Coaches Poll, including No. 1 Tufts, who won the NCAA championship in 2025. Meanwhile, the Captains will treat the hometown faithful to 10 games at Jennings Family Stadium, including tilts against No. 4 Salisbury, No. 11 Washington and Lee, and No. 16 Stevenson.
For the first time in program history, Christopher Newport will play a game in January as the Captains host Elizabethtown in the season opener on the 31st. One week later, the squad will face its first road test at Hampden-Sydney on February 7th before squaring off with Gettysburg in a neutral-site showdown in Severna Park, Maryland.
Following the bout with the Bullets, CNU will return to Newport News for the team's longest homestand in three years. Kicking off a six-game stint, the Captains will welcome Washington and Lee to town on February 18th before battling Stevenson on the 21st. Later, the squad will wrap up the month with games against Randolph-Macon on the 25th and Grove City on the 28th.
At the beginning of March, Christopher Newport will remain at home for match-ups with Franklin & Marshall on the 3rd and Ohio Northern on the 8th. After concluding their home stretch, the Captains will face three straight neutral-site contests in Maryland. At the Mustang Classic in Owings Mills, CNU will challenge Lynchburg and Tufts on back-to-back days on March 13th and 14th. Then, on March 21st, the team will head to Sparks, Maryland for a game with Amherst.
Heading towards the home stretch, the Captains will open Coastal Lacrosse Conference action on March 28th against Stockton. That contest will also serve as the program's annual Senior Day. Following road trips to Mary Washington on April 1st and Kean on April 4th, Christopher Newport will punctuate the regular season at home against Roanoke on April 8th and Salisbury on April 18th.
Eight days later, the league playoffs will begin with the quarterfinals on April 26th before the semifinals take place on April 29th. The conference champion will be crowned on May 3rd.
Christopher Newport is coming off of a 2025 campaign during which the Captains produced an 18-4 record while reaching the NCAA Quarterfinals for the fifth straight year.
