NEWPORT NEWS, Va.- Christopher Newport Head Coach Matt Kelchner has always said, "You have to play the best to be the best."

He has used the axiom to describe CNU's always-tough non-conference schedule. Now it pertains to Saturday's NCAA Tournament opponent. Christopher Newport, 6-4, travels to Alliance, Ohio, to take on top-ranked Mount Union. Kickoff time is set for 12 noon Saturday at Mount Union Stadium.

For the Captains, it will be their ninth NCAA appearance in just 12 seasons of football. CNU is 2-8 all-time in NCAA play.

Mount Union, a powerhouse in NCAA Division III football, is 10-0 this season and Champions of the Ohio Athletic Conference for the 21st consecutive year. The Purple Raiders have won 10 National Championships and have advanced to the Stagg Bowl 15 times.

The pre-game show will begin at 11:30 a.m. The winner of the game will advance to play the winner of the Johns Hopkins/Washington & Jefferson game.
