NEWPORT NEWS, Va.- Saturday night at POMOCO Stadium, the Captains of Christopher Newport host the Panthers of LaGrange College. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
The Captains are riding a three-game winning streak and are now 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the USA South. CNU tops the league standings, and the Captains have now won 14 straight conference battles dating back to 2010.
CNU is coming off a 38-31 home win over Ferrum last Saturday night. 6,137 fans packed POMOCO Stadium, the second-largest crowd in CNU football history.
"Our fans are amazing, and last Saturday was a great example of the kind of support we have received," CNU Head Coach
Matt Kelchner said. "We are working hard in practice and playing pretty well... I hope our fans come out in big numbers again this Saturday night."
It will be the first meeting ever with LaGrange. The Panthers are 1-4 overall and 1-1 in the USA South. LaGrange became a member of the conference this year, taking the open spot left when Shenandoah exited the league to join the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.
Gates will open at POMOCO Stadium at 6 p.m. The action will be broadcast live on the CNU/Pepsi Radio Network (Xtra 99.1 FM) as well as audio and video available at www.CNUsports.com/LIVE
