NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Christopher Newport University women's lacrosse team improved to 8-1 with a dominating 22-0 victory over USA South foe North Carolina Wesleyan. Thirteen different Captains scored and they were lead by
Ashton Marshall who put up four goals.
The Captains scored 13 goals in the first half with
Lauren King picking up the first just 46 minutes into the game and added two more before the half was over. Also scoring more than one goal in the half for the Captains was Marshall with two and
Meghan Harkey with two.
The second half saw more scoring from CNU as they added nine to make the final score 22-0. Marshall picked up two more goals while seven others put goals on the board.
The Captains took a total of 36 shots and picked up 19 ground balls to N.C. Wesleyan's 12. CNU also dominated in draw controls winning 19 of the 24 taken.
CNU goalkeeper,
Hannah Wilkerson, made one save while Bishops goalie
Sacejewia Evans picked up 10.
Monica Evans led the Captains in ground balls with five and Quigley led in draw controls with six.
Morgan Layton and
Emily Johnson both caused three turnovers to lead the Captains.
The Captains return to action tomorrow as they host Guilford College at 1:00pm.
