NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – In their fourth game in the last seven days the Christopher Newport University men's lacrosse team fell to Goucher College 10-2. The loss drops the Captains to 5-4 on the year.
The Captains held Goucher to two goals in the first period with one coming at 12:38 and the other at 8:37. The Gophers put four on the board in the second period before the Captains put their first ball in the back of the net.
Chase Walton scored an unassisted goal at 2:11. Just a minute later the Captains struck again with a goal from
Matt Gleisner off a pass from
Teddy Pekalski.
Goucher was able to score two more goals in the third period and then another pair in the fourth to end the game 10-2.
Ari Elgort took every face-off for the Captains and won 12 out of 16. He also picked up nine ground balls to lead the Captains.
Andy McGregor played all 60 minutes for the Captains and made eight saves.

Connor Mishaw made 15 saves for the Gophers and was assisted in the win by 14 caused turnovers, 5 from defender
Paul Traylor.
The Captains took 30 shots in the game while the Gophers took 38. Goucher also led in ground balls with 24 to CNU's 22.
The Captains will have 10 days to recover from their packed schedule and will take on Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday, April 6 in Virginia Beach, Va. at 7:00pm.
