EAU CLAIRE, WI- Christopher Newport University junior centerfielder
Ashley Mani was named to the NCAA's All-Championship squad following the completion of the championship game on Monday.
Mani, a Chesapeake native, had three hits Sunday night when the Captains were eliminated from the NCAA Tournament by Eastern Connecticut State. The defeat knocked CNU out of the double-elimination tournament, leaving only three teams remaining.
Mani homered in the tournament on Saturday night vs. East Texas Baptist, the team that eventually won the National Championship over Linfield.
The Great Bridge High School product ended the season with a .341 batting average, three home runs and 31 RBI's.
The 2010 CNU softball team finished with a record of 42-10. The 42 wins is a program record and the most wins by any Christopher Newport athletic program ever.
Keith Parr's squad also set a school mark for NCAA wins (6) as the Captains were 6-2 in post-season play.
