Box Score BURLINGTON, N.C. - The top-seeded CNU women's lacrosse team earned a spot in Saturday's USA South championship game with a 20-2 win over Ferrum Friday.
The Captains scored in the first 34 seconds and reeled off 14 straight goals before the Panthers connected with 3:47 to play in the first half. CNU held a 14-1 lead at the break.
The Captains were led by Kaitlin Quigley, who was recently chosen USA South Player of the Year. Rachel Tomlinson and Becca Geist each scored four goals and had two assists and Alyssa Burke and Natalie Gilbert scored three times each. Meghan Harkey had a goal and five assists.
The Captains, now 9-4, will meet the winner of the Greensboro-Shenandoah game Saturday at 1 p.m. for the conference title and accompanying automatic NCAA bid.
