Box Score NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Down 2-0, the CNU baseball team erupted for six runs in the fourth inning and went on to a 10-5 win over Greensboro in the final game before the USA South Tournament, Saturday at Captains Park.
CNU improved to 18-11 and will be the No. 4 seed in the USA South Tournament. The Captains will meet Ferrum in the tournament's first game, Thursday at 9:30 a.m.
After the Pride scored once each in the second and fourth innings, CNU answered big in the bottom of the fourth. With one out,
Parker Neal and
Steven Lindemuth singled and were followed by
Ben Lenda getting hit by a pitch. Mike Romett singled home a run and
Shayne Kersey's bases loaded walked plated another.
Connor Madden then singled home two, a wild pitch scored the sixth and a sacrifice fly by
Shannon Mark added another.
CNU got two more in the sixth on a solo home run by Lenda, a double by Romett and a single by Madden. Madden and
Shannon Mark got RBIs in the eighth.
Madden finished 3-4 with four RBis. Lenda and Romett were each 2-3 with an RBI.
Sean Chitsaz went seven innings for the win, allowing just one earned run while striking out four and walking none.
