Baseball Crushes Greensboro, 20-1

Box Score   NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The CNU baseball team batted around in four consecutive innings, en route to a 20-1 win over Greensboro in a USA South baseball game Saturday at Captains Park.
  The Captains scored five runs in the second inning, with the big hit being a three-run double by Drue Vernon. It was one of nine doubles for CNU during the game which was shortened to seven innings by the mercy rule.
  The Captains then added three more in the third, five in the fourth and six in the fifth.
  Luke Saunders went 3-3 with two doubles and three RBIs. Ben Lenda was 3-5 with three RBIs and four runs scored and Shayne Kersey was 3-4 with two RBIs and four runs scored. Steven Lindemuth, Travis Medina and Connor Madden had two hits each.
  Josh Brinkman went the distance, scattering four hits while striking out three with no walks.
  The Captains are now 17-11 and 6-5 in the USA South. Greensboro is 10-23 and 0-11.
  The two teams meet again Sunday at 1 p.m.
