Box Score BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Bridgewater scored five first inning runs and went on to hand the CNU baseball team its fifth straight loss, 12-8, Tuesday afternoon.
The Captains actually drew first blood with a run in the top of the first inning as
Drue Vernon's single was followed by a double by
Luke Saunders.
Parker Neal's groundout scored Vernon.
But the Eagles collected six hits off starting pitcher
Tyler McElhenny, grabbing a 5-1 lead.
Down 7-1 after three innings, CNU rallied for five of its own in the top of the fourth.
Connor Madden hit a two-run homer , while Neal and
Steven Lindemuth also drove in runs.
But the Eagles countered with two in the fifth and three more in the seventh to draw away for the win.
Lindemuth had two hits, including a home run, and three RBIs, while
Ben Lenda had three hits. Neal, Saunders and Vernon also had two hits each for CNU, which is now 13-10. Bridgewater has a 12-12 record.
The Captains return home Saturday for a doubleheader with Stevenson beginning at noon.
