Softball Takes Pair From Virginia Wesleyan

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - CNU's fifth ranked softball team went on the road Wednesday and took a pair of close wins over Virginia Wesleyan.

The Captains won the first game, 2-1. In the second inning Kristen Nickloy reached on an error. Chelsea Mitchell doubled pinch runner Amanda Potter to third and she scored on a ground ball by Emily Garcia.

The Captains made it 2-0 when Ashley Mani doubled and scored when Mary Kennedy reached on an error. Mitchell finished with three hits an Ashley Mani had two.

In the second contest the Captains fell behind 4-1 after four innings. In the fifth CNU loaded the bases and pinch hitter Jen Falin singled. With the help of an error all three base runners scored, knotting the score at 4-4.

  Then, in the seventh, Chelsea Mitchell singled and advanced to second on a groundout. Felicia Price singled her home with what proved to be the game winning run.

  Mitchell finished the game with two hits, including a double, while Kristen Rowe picked up her ninth win, in relief.

  CNU visits Greensboro Saturday for a USA South doubleheader.
