Box Score 2 PANAMA CITY, Fla. - The CNU softball team dropped its final two games at the Leadoff Classic Sunday, falling to two of the top four teams in the nation. Still, CNU finished fourth in the prestigious, 24-team, event which featured some of the top teams in the country.
In a Gold Bracket semifinal, the Captains lost to No. 4 East Texas Baptist, 4-2. The Captains struck first with a run in the third when
Megan Morris was hit by a pitched and scored on
Ashley Mani's double.
Then, in the fifth, CNU added another run on
Emily Garcia's home run. But ETBU scored three times in the sixth, and added an insurance run in the seventh to win, 4-2.
In the bracket third place game No. 2 Texas-Tyler defeated the Captains, 7-0.
Elizabeth Holte was named to the all-tournament team as a pitcher.
CNU is now 12-4 and will play a doubleheader Wednesday at Shenandoah.
